That is my grandfather who I am so proudly named after. The real deal.
He was patiently teaching me to install shelves in our laundry room. When we were done for the day we enjoyed a glass of apple juice from our nicest glass-works, a birthday gift from my grandmother and grandfather.
An hour after he left, he called telling me that he did not drink up his apple juice, and that I should keep it till next time he would come over doing the last finishing work on the shelves. So here it is, waiting for him, in the midst of a generation of materialistic abundance.
Frugality is the core of what our world so desperately needs – no more wastefulness. Stop wasting resources, optimize our consumption of goods, not throw away that last sip of the apple juice.
Another lesson taught, Kjell – thank you.
